Sports such as curling have been a tradition in the Engadine for over 140 years. They are still practised today on the various ice rinks around St. Moritz.

Curling
The Engadine tourism pioneer Johannes Badrutt was always on the lookout for novel winter sports activities to entertain his guests. So, in 1880, he organised the first curling match on the continent. You can still play the sport today on the Kulm natural ice rink at Chesa al Parc. The St. Moritz Curling Club also rents out the icefield and offers curling tuition to those interested.
