Cross-Country Skiing

Whether you prefer classic cross-country or the more dynamic skating technique, variety is guaranteed on the approximately 230 kilometres of cross-country ski trails that meander throughout the Upper Engadine. The Direttissima, for example, takes you past the three lakes, a leisurely excursion on your narrow skis, perfect for soaking up the unique winter-wonderland landscape. Those looking for a challenge will find it in the steeper side valleys and on the legendary marathon course.

The world-famous Engadine Skimarathon trail runs from Maloja to S-chanf, featuring an impressive 42 kilometres of cross-country trails. Meanwhile, high above is the Diavolezza bottom station, where a high-altitude cross-country ski trail winds its way through the snow-covered winter landscape. If you wish to travel a little further, you can head for the Alp Bondo high-altitude cross-country ski trail on the Bernina Pass (2330 m above sea level) where snow is guaranteed until the end of April. Those who prefer to do their laps in the evening will be spoilt for choice between the night trails of St. Moritz, Pontresina or Zernez.

Cross-Country Pass

The cross-country trail fees are a valuable contribution to the daily upkeep of the cross-country trails. Pin badges and Swiss cross-country passes can be purchased at the Nordic checkpoints on the trail, the tourist information offices, the cross-country ski schools or online.
