Snapshot: John Lennon at the Badrutt's Palace, 1965

Picture this: It’s the mid-60s, Beatlemania is in full swing, and John Lennon is… skiing? That’s right. In January 1965, the music icon took a break from the stage to enjoy the snowy peaks of St. Moritz. Sporting a ‘Roger-Staub’ ski cap, Lennon was photographed in front of Badrutt’s Palace Hotel, looking every bit the winter holidaymaker.
He wasn’t alone. To his left stood Andrea Badrutt, the hotel’s owner and part of the legendary Badrutt family, who helped turn St. Moritz into the place for winter tourism. Also in the lineup: ski instructor Hans Haas, Cynthia Lennon (Lennon's wife at the time), and Judy Lockhart-Smith, the wife of Beatles producer George Martin, who was standing right beside her.
Lennon’s ski trip was just a small moment in Beatles history, but it’s a fun reminder that even rockstars needed a break. And what better place to escape than the snowy paradise of St. Moritz?
