La tuor

Samedan

La Tuor is a museum in the heart of Samedan, housed on five floors in a medieval residential tower. The outbuilding is used as entrance and stairway to the tower. After a careful reconstruction of the historical building fabric, La Tuor started in 2010 with temporary exhibitions and the corresponding supporting programmes in the fields of crafts, design, architecture and the built environment. The aim of La Tuor is to sharpen the senses so that the cultural heritage and current regional creativity becomes visible. National and cantonal themes are also shown with a reference to the Engadine High Valley.

Current exhibition: Lakescape - from the threat to the Upper Engadine lakescape to national spatial planning

24th june 2020 to 25th october 2020

Since the advent of tourism, the Upper Engadine landscape has been admired, described, painted and photographed and is anchored in the collective memory. Disturbing this image through large building projects provokes, but at the same time leads to an increasingly differentiated approach to the resource landscape and to legislation flanking the various interests.

Curated by Christof Kübler, the exhibition uses texts, plans, photos, objects and interviews to show what has moved people over the past 150 years - from the first projects for the use of hydroelectric power, the planned railway lines along the lakes, the national chocolate campaign and the huge building projects of the 1960s to the present day.
