The Chesa Planta in Samedan, the former ancestral home of the von Planta and von Salis families, is today considered a cultural centre of the Upper Engadine and a haven of Rhaeto-Romanic culture. The building, the largest private house in the region and an impressive example of an Engadine aristocratic home, houses an important Romanesque library and the Museum of Home Culture.
