Thomas Röthlisberger lives in Bern and has published several novels, stories and poetry since 1991. "Das Licht hinter den Bergen" (2020 - edition bücherlese) is about the wartime period of World War 2 in Switzerland. The teacher Marxer lives with his wife, who has suffered a stroke and whom he cares for, in a high valley in Graubünden, which is probably close to the border, but far from the current events in Poland. One evening, however, world events enter the valley when a young woman appears at the door. She had fled the night over the old mule pass from the Voralberg region after her husband had been banished and shot. Marxer reluctantly took the young woman, Schwarz, into his home and tried to let it go unnoticed at first, but this doesn´t work for very long and he gets into trouble explaining.
Other guests of the culture and language promoter Chasper Pult in the series "Literary Approaches to the Engadine" are Rut Plouda (17.02.) and Jachen Erni (08.04).
