Two girls grow up in an Innu community in Quebec and are inseparable. While Mikuan has a loving family around her, Shaniss is confronted with violence, loss and personal responsibility at an early age. As children, they vowed to stick together forever. But as they grow up, their friendship starts to crack when Mikuan falls in love with a white boy and dreams of leaving the reservation, while Shaniss strictly adheres to Innu tradition.
