Village square concert Silvaplana "DUS"

23 August 2024

17:00 - 19:00

On Friday, August 23rd, the band «DUS» will play Romansh folk pup music on the Plazza dal Güglia.

Their catchy music, made up of tricky guitar riffs and a contrasting modern voice, manages to fuse their roots of folk-country aesthetics with modern pop music. The Bernese and the Graubünden Oberlanders love songs from the 70s and 80s and will not only grab you with their retro scarf but will also teach you a few Romansh words. Dus not only wants to reach the audience but is actively committed to (language) minorities, topics such as #blacklivesmatters or #metoo, which also play an important role in their own history. About DUS Since their founding in 2016, Gino and David, the creative minds behind DUS, have pursued their friendship and passion for music with a unique mix of innovation and tradition. After their debut album "Clar E Stgir" (2018), DUS gained nationwide fame with their Romansh version of "079" and published the bilingual picture book "Giugiu & Roro" in 2020, the first edition of which quickly sold out. The string quartet version of "Giugiu & Roro" has also been available as a vinyl LP since 2022. Shortly afterwards, "Giuven Grischuner", a cover version of the classic "Teenage Dirtbag", was released and caused a sensation in the media and has since been celebrated as the first Romansh song about same-sex love. Highlights of their concert career to date include the "House Of Switzerland" in Stuttgart DE, Gurtenfestival Bern and the Blue Balls Festival Lucerne. DUS is currently working with Eurovision-winning producer Benjamin Alasu and ex-ELUVEITIE frontwoman Anna Murphy on their latest EP "scoletta", which will be released on June 14, 2024. The first single "1 2 3" has already conquered numerous Swiss radio stations in spring 2024 and has proven to be a real earworm. With their new music, however, DUS are aiming for more than just spreading good cheer. They stand up for minorities and want to make their listeners think and continue to create a lasting connection between sound culture and language.
