Special exhibition "Move on"

At the centre of the two-part exhibition “Ziehe weiter” is the Zurich artist Michael Günzburger, who works with the imprint of surfaces. Together with his assistant Zita Fahrländer and in collaboration with the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), he revitalises the museum's collection for new art productions. Traces of use, decorations and structures of historical objects are their starting points for new art, and the rosettes and knotholes on the museum's artefacts act like eyes that observe us. In the first part of the exhibition, starting in July, you can see works that are based on this view of these structures. Digitalised traces are transformed into new images using laser engraving and printing processes. From December, the focus will be on new, specially developed moulding techniques that give the museum's objects a voice of their own, and the exhibition will draw attention to scratches, marks and precious carvings that visualise the museum's own life.
