Reading with Michael Krüger on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the death of Giovanni Segantini

For decades, as head of the Hanser publishing house, he shaped the literary scene in Germany, and at the same time we got to know him as a writer, poet and essayist. Two recently published publications reveal his rich life: "At the Beach" describes his childhood memories. Ten years ago he resigned as head of the Hanser publishing house. "Meeting with Poets" is also a look back at his life and at the same time an entertaining description of his experiences with German-speaking and international poets, most of whom he was friends with. The reading at the Suvretta House will focus on his book "On Paintings by Segantini" (2022). Krüger shows a perspective in the work of Giovanni Segantini, who died young 125 years ago, which allows us to discover a new view of the beauty of his works and what lies behind them. Perhaps during the conversation moderated by Chasper Pult we will find out why Krüger recognized the secret of his art as a young man when looking at the painting "Plowing" in Munich.
