Architecture walk - open doors in the Engadin and Bergell

Pritzker Prize winner Sir Norman Foster designed a new ensemble at Kulm Park. In addition to renovating the ice pavilion, he designed two new grandstands for cultural and sporting events in summer and winter. Norman Foster Architects and Küchel Architects added two dynamically curved spectator stands to the old ice pavilion in St. Moritz. Using 3D woodworking techniques, an architecturally sophisticated free-flow form was created. The stairs of the grandstand, which border the old building and lead to the pavilion terrace via a few more opposing steps, interlink the old and new buildings. At this top point, the roofs of the two buildings come close together. The filigree pavilion building with the fine window details and the multi-sectioned roof finish stands opposite the elegant curved grandstand roof, which appears to be cast in one piece.
