Guided tour to the quarry in Val Fex

The old quarry at the back of the idyllic Val Fex has been given new life. The short documentary film "November is coming safely", which is shown in the old horse stable at the Alp da Segl, introduces visitors to the topic of the "giovellais" (stonemasons). Afterwards, you will hike together from the Alp da Segl up to the exciting, mystical site of the old quarry "CHEVA PLATTAS DA FEX". There, surrounded by thousands of pieces of the Fex slabs of the Muott'Ota, there is a lot to learn: stories about the people of the Val Malencos and their hard life, the formation and geology of the quarry, the importance, extraction and use of the Fex stone slabs. You will see how the workers were accommodated and the collapsed tunnels where they dug. Meeting point: Alp da Segl in Val Fex Duration of the tour: approx. 1.5 hours Getting there: You can reach Alp da Segl on foot from Sils Maria in approx. 2 hours, from the Hotel Fex in approx. 20 minutes. You can also easily get to the Hotel Fex by horse-drawn carriage or horse-drawn bus. Equipment: We recommend good shoes for the 10-minute walk from the Alp to the quarry.
