Sils and the entire Upper Engadine, an almost inexhaustible source of inspiration. As a "second home" for decades, he shows his "love for the Engadine" in watercolor and oil paintings. A festival of colors - a festival of mountain and landscape painting. As a "second home" for almost five decades, he has taken this high valley to his heart. His paintings open a window to his fascination for the Engadine. After training as a teacher, he worked in the education sector for many years and has acquired, deepened and developed his craft for more than three decades in painting weeks, in courses at the arts and crafts school, but above all autodidactically. He is interested in the essence of this landscape: the snow-capped mountains, the reflections in the Upper Engadine lakes, the interplay of light and shadow. His paintings reflect the calm and cold in winter, the splendor of colors in summer and autumn. You can sense his admiration for famous painters of the Engadine. If symbolism also shapes his pictures, then perhaps this is it: capturing the beauty and diversity of this landscape on paper and canvas is a preservative impression for him - a call to preserve and protect this precious nature. When hiking, biking or skating, Gerold Schoch is looking for the good picture, the "right" moment. What he captures with his smartphone is "edited" in his head until the composition and coloring of the perceived inner image takes shape. Only then does he paint. Gerold Schoch has already exhibited his pictures several times in the Engadin: in the spa center, in the former Hotel Guardalej, in the Hotel Albana Silvaplana and in the Grond Café. He has also exhibited his pictures in the lowlands - most recently in the "Kulturschüür" in Männedorf and at the Swiss-ArtExpo in Zurich main station.
