Gile Bae, born in Rotterdam in 1994, made her concert debut at the age of five in South Korea. She studied in The Hague and at the Accademia Pianistica di Imola with Franco Scala. She won numerous competitions at an early age, including first prize at the International Steinway & Sons Piano Competition at the age of 15. She has played for the Dutch royal family and Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi. In 2018 she was named a "Bösendorfer Artist". In 2000, she played at the Ruhr Festival at the invitation of András Schiff and took part in his "Building Bridges" project. In 2021, she performed Beethoven's first piano concerto in Ferrara under the direction of Fabio Luisi. She recorded Bach's Goldberg Variations on CD for the second time in 2019.
