Choir concert: Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn
Sacred choral compositions by Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn
Closing concert of the Sils Choral Week. The name Mendelssohn stands for the most exclusive choral literature! The siblings Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn composed countless works for choir. While Felix Mendelssohn's works have long been known to the general public, it took much longer for his sister's compositions to be published. These, however, are in no way inferior to those of her brother. You will hear some of the most beautiful pieces for choir by this unique pair of siblings: Fanny's "Lobgesang," Felix's "Hör mein Bitten" and "Verleih uns Frieden." Instrumentation: Choir, strings (Trio Fontane plus), continuo piano, and soloists (soprano, tenor) conducted by Patric Ricklin. Admission free; collection
